The City of Glasgow
The second city during British Empire, the largest and liveliest city in Scotland, the Europe’s city of culture, the third largest financial centre and the third tourist-visited city in the UK after London and Edinburgh, the Europe’s fastest growing conference and event destination, the home of two of the largest Engineering schools in the UK, and the city where the number of engineers per population is among the highest in the world – these are all Glasgow, one of the most remarkable cities in the world.
Glasgow has the glory history, the prosperous present and the bright future. The city first became prominent when being a hub of transatlantic trade with Americas since the 16th century. Key banking sector such as JP Morgan, Barclays Wealth and Morgan Stanley also relocated to commercial property in this area.
For visitors, Glasgow offers so many activities; shopping, sightseeing, festival, museums, or watching movie – the world’s tallest cinema, the 18 screen Cineworld is located in Glasgow. etc. Glasgow’s beautiful scenery as well as Glasgow’s artistic community has given its name the European City of Culture in 1990. Glasgow’s shopping centre is among the largest in the country. The city is Europe’s fastest growing conference and event destination with the UK’s largest exhibition and conference centre, The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC).
