Edinburgh’s Telford College

Established in 1968, Edinburgh’s Telford College is named after Thomas Telford – a great Scottish engineer and architect whose work includes important roads, canals, bridges and churches throughout Scotland and England.
The college is very well-known for its supportive environment and its enthusiasm to assist students to achieve their full personal and career potential. In 2009-10 it won the British Council Award for International Student Support – an award which recognises best practice in supporting international students. Telford offers comprehensive student welfare support and inclusive systems that reflect the multi-cultural, multi-faith backgrounds of the students.
Telford has an excellent record in teaching and learning and close links with commerce, industry and the community. If you are looking for diversity in your classmates and a wide variety of courses – Telford is the place. It gives you the opportunity to join with students of all ages studying a wide variety of courses, from Business to Beauty Therapy and Dental Technology to Dance. The college has now welcomed over 180 full-time international students with a further 400 taking English courses.
In July 2006 the College moved to a new campus on Edinburgh’s Waterfront, roughly 2 miles from Edinburgh city center. The new building is the largest, purpose-built college Scotland has seen for over 30 years and incorporates many unique features including interactive whiteboards in all lecture rooms, wireless connection and over 300 Mac’s and 1500 PC’s with free internet access. In addition, there is a well-stocked lending and reference library with hundreds of learning resources and online access to expert tuition via the College’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
