University of Aberdeen
มหาวิทยาลัยอเบอร์ดีนเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดอันดับห้าของสหราชอาณาจักร ถูกตั้งขึ้นในปี 1495 โดย William Elphinstone บิชอปแห่งเมืองอเบอร์ดีน มหาวิทยาลัยแห่งนี้มีชื่อเสียงทางด้านงานวิจัยและการเรียนการสอนทางด้านการแพทย์ มนุษยศาสตร์ วิทยาศาสตร์ เทคโนโลยี และกฎหมาย โดยเฉพาะสาขาวิทยาศาสตร์ชีวภาพและวิทยาศาสตร์ทางการแพทย์นั้น ได้มีการพัฒนาอย่างรวดเร็วและต่อเนื่องในหลายปีที่ผ่านมา เนื่องจากมหาวิทยาลัยมีศูนย์ Medical Science ที่มีความทันสมัยที่สุดในประเทศ นอกจากนี้ มหาวิทยาลัยอเบอร์ดีนยังเป็นศูนย์กลางการศึกษาทางด้านเกษตรศาสตร์ของสก็อตแลนด์อีกด้วย ด้านกฏหมายของมหาวิทยาลัยอเบอร์ดีนได้รับการจัดอันดับให้อยู่ใน Top 10 ของ UK โดยนอกจากจะมีหลักสูตรทางด้านกฏหมายสาขาต่างๆที่เหมือนกับมหาวิทยาลัยอื่นแล้ว ยังมีหลักสูตร Property, Intellectual Property และ Oil & Gas Law อีกด้วย
นอกจากชื่อเสียงทางด้านวิชาการแล้ว มหาวิทยาลัยอเบอร์ดีนยังมีความสัมพันธ์ที่ดีกับภาคธุรกิจโดยเฉพาะกับอุตสาหกรรมน้ำมันและก๊าซ เนื่องจากเมืองอเบอร์ดีนเป็นศูนย์กลางการผลิตและการค้าน้ำมันและก๊าซธรรมชาติของยุโรป โดยเป็นฐานเชื่อมต่อกับ North Sea ด้วยเหตุนี้หลักสูตรทางด้านปิโตรเลียม ธรณีวิทยาและพลังงานของมหาวิทยาลัยจึงมีชื่อเสียงทั้งด้านวิจัยและปฏิบัติ และเป็นที่ยอมรับทั้งในแวดวงวิชาการและอุตสาหกรรม นอกจากนี้ ทางมหาวิทยาลัยยังมี ศูนย์กีฬาที่ทันสมัย เครือข่ายคอมพิวเตอร์ คลีนิคฝึกหัด และสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกต่างๆ ไว้ให้บริการ
