
University of Abertay Dundee

The campus of University of Abertay Dundee (UAD) is located across a beautiful mixture of environments – from a 16th-century castle to an outstanding award-winning new library.
It is another Scottish university with a great diversity of backgrounds and cultures with over 60 nationalities represented. UAD is one of the top ten modern universities in UK according to Times Good University Guide. It was also ranked number one in the UK for its investment in IT facilities by the Financial Times; with one PC for every four students. Although established relatively recently, the university is placed fifty-seventh in the UK, according to the Times Good University Guide (2007).
The uniqueness of UAD is that it offers many non-traditional courses which cannot easily be found in other universities across the world; for example, Computer Game Technology, Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures, Food Product Design. This university was the first in Scotland to launch a degree in Bioinformatics and Biotechnology.
Recognized by the government as an “industrial university”, UAD has established Scotland’s first graduate enterprise center, Embreonix, to help student set up their own business. There have been more than 40 small businesses spun out during the past six years.
