Consistently ranked among the world’s top universities, The University was ranked 5th in Britain by the Times Good Universities Guide and is frequently ranked among the world’s top 20 universities by various international league tables. Its Arts and Humanities and Biomedicine, in particular, were ranked 13th and 14th in the world. The University has the 3rd largest financial endowment after Oxbridge and is the only British university apart from Oxbridge to have produced a UK Prime Minister – Gordon Brown. Notably, two of the Top Ten Canadian Universities – McGill and Queen’s – and the University of Pennsylvania’s medical school (the top US University) were modelled on the curriculum of this ancient university.
